A Grade I public hospital under the Ministry of Health, established on 1 November 1975, with more than 1,200 beds and more than 1 million outpatient visits per year; it is a major geriatrics centre for the country.
The Oncology Department was established under Decision 2258/QĐ-BVTN (30 December 2011) and began operating on 1 January 2012, expanding from 40 to 65 inpatient beds together with 2 day-chemotherapy rooms.
It provides multimodal treatment for lung, gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic, breast and prostate cancers and haematological malignancies, combined with diagnostic biopsy (chest wall, liver core, breast).

Hospital-wide: more than 1,200 beds, about 1,300 staff, 32 clinical departments and 8 paraclinical departments. Oncology Department: 65 inpatient beds + 2 day-chemotherapy rooms, 33 staff (1 Level II specialist/MSc doctor, 4 Level I specialists, 1 general practitioner). Hospital-wide outpatients: more than 1 million visits per year.
Accreditation
The Haematology Department holds ISO 15189:2012 (12 June 2020) - accreditation for the haematology laboratory, not applying specifically to the Oncology Department. JCI could not be verified.
Strengths and key treatments
The Oncology Department (since 2012) provides multimodal treatment for lung, gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic, breast and prostate cancers and haematological malignancies; it performs chest wall biopsy, liver core biopsy and breast biopsy.
A leading geriatrics centre for the country, having operated on and provided intensive care for patients over 90 years old - relevant to elderly cancer patients.
Hospital-wide shared equipment: 1.5 Tesla MRI, 128-slice CT, OCT and a 3D cardiac mapping system; no evidence of a radiotherapy linear accelerator or a PET/CT dedicated to oncology.
The team includes Dr Nguyễn Đắc Nhân Tâm (Level I specialist) - Deputy Head of the Oncology Department.
