A Grade I public general hospital under the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, tracing its origins to the early 20th century, with 1,500 beds.
The oncology unit (operating since 2014) was formally upgraded to an independent Oncology Department on 10 October 2025, after cancer treatment visits rose by nearly 3,700 (2024 compared with 2023) and by more than 6,800 (compared with 2022).

JCI or ISO 15189 accreditation could not be verified for the Oncology Department or for the hospital as a whole. The hospital is classified as Grade I (by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee) and holds the Labour Order, Second Class (a domestic award, not an international quality accreditation).
Strengths and key treatments
The Oncology Department is headed by Dr Lê Bá Thảo (PhD) and treats gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary-pancreatic, breast, lung, urological and gynaecological cancers; it uses a multimodal model including outpatient and extended inpatient chemotherapy, palliative care, nutritional support and weekly multidisciplinary case review.
Equipped with an ESCO-standard biological safety cabinet for chemotherapy compounding.
No evidence of a radiotherapy linear accelerator, PET/CT or surgical robot dedicated to the department.
