Website

Overview

Bệnh viện Trung ương Huế (Hue Central Hospital), established in 1894, was the first Western-medicine hospital in Vietnam; it is now 1 of 3 special-class hospitals under the Ministry of Health, with 3,939 beds on a site of about 190,000 m² (including campus 2). It is the main teaching hospital of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the tertiary referral centre for about 25 million people in central Vietnam.

The Oncology Center opened on 16 January 2016 — a 7-storey building of about 10,000 m² with total investment of about VND 200 billion (including EUR 17 million of concessional ODA funding from Austria) — comprising departments of surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and palliative care.

The Ministry of Health plans to build 1 of the 3 national proton therapy centres (2026-2030) at Hue Central Hospital, alongside Bệnh viện K and Bệnh viện Chợ Rẫy.

It performed the first autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplant for a patient with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in central Vietnam.
