National Hospital of Endocrinology

Established in 1969 under Decision 906/BYT-QĐ, Bệnh viện Nội tiết Trung ương (the National Hospital of Endocrinology) is the national lead specialist hospital for endocrinology and diabetes in Vietnam, under the Ministry of Health.

The hospital has 2 campuses: Thái Thịnh (Đống Đa, Hanoi) and Tứ Hiệp (Thanh Trì, Hanoi), with more than 1,000 beds in total.

The Thyroid Surgery Department is a specialist unit for the surgery of thyroid conditions (including thyroid cancer), with 100 beds and thousands of operations performed each year.

The hospital leads 2 national target programmes (prevention and control of iodine deficiency disorders, and the national diabetes prevention and control programme), acting as the national lead in professional guidance on endocrinology and diabetes across the country.

The Thyroid Surgery Department specialises in the surgical treatment of thyroid conditions, including thyroid cancer, using modern surgical techniques.

The national lead unit for endocrinology and diabetes, providing professional leadership for lower-level health facilities across the country.

It has received international technology transfer since 2008, applying advanced endocrine diagnosis and treatment methods.

It works closely with the nuclear medicine and oncology departments in diagnosing and treating thyroid tumours and related metastases.

It leads the national target programmes on the prevention and control of iodine deficiency disorders and of diabetes.
